... up a few boxes, “Sorry about the mess,” he replied, in a strong southern accent “just a few days ago we met head on with a twister.” I looked at my cousin with a slight smirk on my face. I knew we were thinking the same thing, “that was rather ironic.” I turned to the worker and replied, “it was no inconvenience to us.” We continued to walk into the store and found that there was another part to the building that was made into a café. The whole reason we had gone to this store was to find something to eat so we walked up to the counter and ordered a couple of sandwiches. The girl that took our order was a petite girl around seventeen years old she had an even stronger accent than the man d ...
... of imagination and let me share another persons dream while helping me see mine. Piers Anthony taking me through his spellbinding Juxtaposition opened my mind and revealed his dreams. I have held my grip on the exhilaration that brought me. I never feel as complete as when I visit another book. The ceaseless joy bonding my mind with another realm leads straight into addiction. Finishing a good story is akin withdrawal or the loss of a loved one. Someday a clinic may open in the name of helping readers come back without regret. The regret of the book ending unveils the truth in the saying "parting is such sweet sorrow." I harbor no doubt of the knowledge and abilities books sha ...
... evaporated swamp water and healthy dirt. Then, the time for us to find the desired vessel arrived. We chose the kayaks, and set out for the water. Carefully, with our torn-jeans rolled up, and shirts off, we dragged the massive thing over the slope of grass and mud into the shallow stream. We then hopped aboard, grabbed the paddles, and floated and splashed into nowhere. The wavy current sucked us downstream, periodically bouncing us off of sandbags and sharp branches leaning over the water- Now that was true adventure! Minutes later, my brother and I, after passing under many pipes and tunnels, floated into a huge "cul de sac" of water, with an island in the center. In our amazemen ...
... shop about 3 times a week and tries to meet someone new every time he goes. He is really nice and it's not hard for him to make friends. Almost everyone in the shop know who he is. If he sees someone he doesn't know he'll go up and talk to them. Devon told me why he dressed the way he does, "I do it to show people that everyone is different and to like them for who they are." Devon does not take a look at anybody and judge them for that one look. When he meets someone he automatically likes them, once he gets to know them he makes his decision not to like them if that's the case. As Devon lit up a cigarette and took a puff he told me about some of his life. "I haven't dressed like ...
... presented to us. When there is a difference, we should not ignore the idea or block it out. We should feel free to learn and question new ideas. Just because we learn something doesn't mean we have to accept it. We should leave ourselves open to new ideas. When we do this we become very well rounded individuals. An example of this is the issue involving the debate between evolution and creationism. As Christians, we naturally believe in creationism, but we shouldn't stop learning about evolution because we don't believe in it. This makes us very close minded. We shouldn't stop learning about a subject just because we don't believe in it. One of our freedoms is the academic freedom ...
... yourself a boat." "That's for sure, do you know where I might find a boat for sale?" "That all depends on how much money you have." Tom said. "That's why I want to be a pirate, I have no money. And I'm not able to take over a ship by myself." "I guess you'll have to get a job then. There's a diner in the village up the road, and I believe they are in need of a dish washer." "Really, I've get down there and see about that job before someone else gets it." "Well, I'll be seeing you around then?" "Yes, but I was just wondering." "Yes?" "Why does a man of your age have the position of lookout?" "Because everyone else is to lazy nowadays." "Oh...well, good-bye" "Bye." George walked ...
... had finished his ale, he was an angry and drunken Mage who was tempted to destroy the small village. Felmont was leaving the tavern when he saw a large bolt of lightning smash a small vendor's cart that caught on fire. Behind his back, the elf heard the Mage starting another chant. Felmont pulled out his small warhammer and took a large swing at the Mage's head. The Mage used his large staff to knock warhammer out of Felmont's hands. Felmont backed away and pulled out three small poison daggers which he launched at the Mage's chest. As the daggers hit the Mage he began to disintegrate. Soon there was nothing left but a pile of dust containing a few gold coins. Felmont looked into ...
... side of the road. Being true cavers and adventurous types we decided we had to poke our heads in to take a look around. I veered off the road in started heading in the direction of the rock formation. Unfortunately although driving along what seemed to be tracks I was getting myself deeper and deeper into very soft sand. This was my mistake, traveling along a path that was untested and the whereabouts of the destination unknown. "Are you sure you know what you are doing" said Jamie as the tires began to spin more and more in the soft particles of sand. "Sure, don't you see the tracks in the sand? Others have been this way, and hey, if they can do it, why can't we?" I said this half ...
... my mother’s attitude also played a major part in the way that she communicates. She is also an assertive person because she is alway confident about things. My mother also makes assumptions of other people without adding all the fact. I also observed that she sometimes uses non- verbal communication skills to substitute for verbal communication skills. For example, when she is talking about something that is large in size; she would open her arms wide to show what she is talking about. Finally, my mother also uses other things to put emphasis on words. I observed that she does this when she puts emphasis on words with non- verbal messages. For example, when she tells my daughter to ...
... team, and my coach, Mr. Keubler, was also a coach for my travel team and All-Star team. He asked me to play for the travel team, called the Devlin Team and I accepted, always eager to play as much baseball as possible. I had a good season with the Devlin team that year, and my two coaches were Mr. Keubler and Mr. Seabright. They were also going to coach the All-Star team. At the end of my intramural season, All-Stars tryouts began. My coach, Mr. Keubler suggested that I try out for the team. That made me ecstatic, and I was starting to get excited. I made it through the first few tryouts with ease. The other players were good, but I was keeping up no problem. Tryouts continu ...
