... it is impossible - unless you stick to the right side of the bend.” As we neared the end of a long straight away in the river, I noticed the speed of the water was increasing exponentially. A look farther down the river told me what I had been dreading this whole trip now lay before us, and we were going into Wallace's Point from the wrong side of the river! “Rich! Back-right stroke! Back-right stroke! Hurry! Don't you see that we're going in the wrong way? BACK-RIGHT STROKE!” I bellowed as a rush of excitement and worry hit me. “Hey, take it easy man. We can do this. We'll just paddle like crazy to the other side. Got it?” was Rich's unusually calm reply to my ...
... fertile and give birth to the universe. The light gave birth to a god, the first god, and his name was Thrakath. He was the creator of the universe and the son of the light and the dark. The light also gave birth to Tria and she was the creator of the universe, the daughter of the light and the dark and the wife of Thrakath. Both Thrakath and Tria lived together within the light and dark for a long time creating the universe within their minds. After they had finished thinking they decided to implement their plans. First they created the stars. There were many stars throughout the universe and both Thrakath and Tria were pleased. But the stars eventually became troublesome so they ...
... just a group of teenagers pretending to be spies. Every week we'd have at least one meeting at my house to talk about how things were going. Sometimes depending on the case or goal we were pursuing, the meetings would run on into the late of night. I guess it could be said that I was leader of our group. The meetings were held at my house, and I was the one who brought together the present group of agents. In the theme of espionage, we referred to everyone as an agent. Never as a friend. However we preferred to think of our agency, which we had given the name of the Renegades, as a collective. That is, everybody had a say in what we did. My bedroom was in the basement of our house ...
... my natural leadership. Saying something that needs to be said or leading by example prove my teamwork abilities. I have participated in many community service activities in my community through school and church. I am a member of my schools Service Club. One of our activities was to buy gifts for needy children. I also raked leaves for seniors and delivered food to their homes. I was also involved in a dance marathon at my school that raised almost $2,000 for the Doug Flutie foundation for Autism. Through my church youth group I have also done many voluntary activities. I volunteered at a carnival for the kids of the church running games and making cotton candy. I have volunteered s ...
... I miss them all very much, but the phone has proven to be my best friend. I talk to them all everyday, making sure that I do not miss a thing that goes on in Atlanta. Another issue that has effected my college experience is meeting new people. Meeting new people is usually something that I never have a problem of doing. Since I have been here I have felt intimidated by people and not as comfortable around them as I usually do. The idea that I am at college and around older people has a lot to do with it. But I still think that I have meet more people that I have ever known in my life while being in Alabama. Going through Rush for example was a very intimidating, but I met so many gi ...
... must have picture of each student individually, teachers, staff, etc. I found it on the bookshelf in my room and withdrew it from the shelf. I placed it on my study desk and looked at the book cover of the yearbook. The color of the cover page was combined with many colors such as purple, green, blue, white, brown, and yellow. The title of the book for 1998 was In Vision. There was a huge eye with the number 98 placed at the center of the front cover page. It looked colorful but unique. I turned to the front book cover over to the left side of the desk and read all the nice comments of my friends had written for me before I graduated from high school. I was smiling and felt extr ...
... does often. His first school was in California and it was a two room school house. He had to walk home and there were water snakes in the gutters. One time when he got home, his favorite toy, a refrigerator handle, was missing. Then he noticed that the two trees that were in front of the house were gone. He called the police. When the police got there, the baby-sitter was there and said the owner had taken the trees out. When the police officer found out that a handle was all that was missing, he gave my grandpa a lecture about only calling the police in an emergency. He never found the handle. My grandpa liked chorus the most, and he hated the rest of the classes. He remember ...
... blue astroturf." This was an enormous motivation factor, due to the fact that soccer is my favorite sport. "And the food is delectable," he went on, "They serve chicken curry with juicy vegetables four out of the seven days of the week." I ate chicken curry every chance I got, so this, added to the soccer field, made the school sound fantastic. "The weather is remarkable. The temperature year-round is seventy-five to eighty degrees," he continued with emphasis, "just like California, Rishi." My brother knew that I loved California. He also told me that I would get to visit our parents two times a week, which is very generous compared to other Indian boarding schools. ...
... Love by choice, especially not yours, is a horrible way to live a life. It's hard for the one who didn't have the choice. If one has to pick their husband or wife it should not depend on their money status or their popularity, it should be a careful decision that will make one happy for the rest of their life. A good example that my classmates and I could relate to, is the Hasidic world. Daughters and sons are usually married off by their parents through a deal at the ages of twelve and thirteen. They grow up knowing whom they're going to marry for seven or eight years having no say in the matter. They have to learn to love their mate and I feel it's a miserable way to marry someone and fe ...
... Memorial stretching white and graceful, remembering painfully that this would be the last time that he would ever walk along this beautiful beach. As his eyes watched the waves, and how they caressed the muddy shoreline, he began to think of the future. His thoughts were quickly disrupted. “Hey bud, how's it going? What was so important that you had to talk to me about?” Chris asked. “It's to hard. I can't go on with it.” “What? What can't you go on with?” Chris demanded urgently. “It's just, that, that, this will be our last weekend together”. “Wait a minute. Slow down, your not making any sense. None at all. What do you mean that this will be our last weekend together? We have t ...
