... Hotspur and the opposing Vassals and when he deals with Hal at the royal court. Both Falstaff and the King live,to a great extent, by the sharpness of their minds: Falstaff as a criminal, and the King as a politician. Another similar facet of these two characters is their view of bravery. Both the King and Falstaff subscribe to the theory that it is better to avoid danger and thus avoid the possibility of harm than to take risks. Falstaff does this on several occasions, such as when he played dead during the battle to avoid injury. At this same battle, the King employed similar tactics, when he had many of his men disguised to look like him and thus him hard to find. It is in these wa ...

The chiropractor also says that the way he sees it, "If you're frightened of dieing and you keep trying to hold on you'll see devils tearing your life away. If you've made your peace then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth." The film Jacob's Ladder uses the character of Jacob Singer to demonstrate how the film's creators view death and afterlife. The central character in the film is a man by the name of Jacob Singer (Jake), who is in Vietnam in 1971 fighting for the U.S. against the Vietcong. The film begins with a surprise attack by the Vietcong on the American camp which started a furious gu ...

... saw a coach coming. It contained his true father, King Laios of Thebes and his bodyguards. When they almost ran him over Oedipus attacked them killing the bodyguards and his father, thinking that they were highway bandits, and by doing so he unwittingly fulfilled the prophecy. When he realizes this he is devastated. This really contributes to the theme, that you cannot escape your past. The fact that he killed a king and his father no less, is a major factor in his exile later in the story. When he discovers that King Laios was his real father he sees that by not running away that he could have prevented this whole catastrophe. This just goes to show that hindsight is always 20/20, ...

Not after what they did to me in the sports (p.39).” Troy also wants Cory to be a man. He tells Cory to keep with school because he never had an education. He wants Cory to grow up to learn a trade like fixing cars or build houses so they can’t take it away from him unlike an injury in sports. “You go on and learn to put your hands to some good use. Besides hauling people’s garbage (p.35).” He is a great fighter when it comes to dealing with death, which is closing in. Troy compares Death to baseball because sooner or later, he’s gonna lose ...

... numerous occasions when the brave and instinctive actions of this character reflect poorly upon the character of Hamlet. For example although we do not see Fortinbras’s initial reaction to his fathers death, we know that from the outset of the play he has already set out to avenge his fathers death. “...Now, sir, young Fortinbras, Hath in the skirts of Norway, here and there, Shark’d up a list of lawless resolutes,” This quote tells us that in this short period of time Fortinbras has formed an army of outlaws to launch an attack on Denmark “…to recover of us, by strong of hand……those foresaid lands so by his father lost”. In this same period of time, despite his suspicions, Hamlet ...

When Lord Capulet said that it shows that he is well respected by Verona and its people. People say bad things about Romeo, when Tybalt says "It fits when suck a villian is a guest, I'll not endure him" on page 500, line 75. Tybalt calls him a villian because he dis-likes Romeo and wants to kill him because he came un-invited to the Capulets party.
