... life. Emerson was correct in saying that it is insane to seek advice from someone who is a “go-between” themselves and God. One could run into a false prophet and be headed the wrong direction in life. I believe that it is an important part of life’s education. Whether the pupil is young or old, they should learn the gospel, learn right from wrong, and live by it. God’s word should be understood and believed and the people should have faith in him, that he will take care of his people. The main weakness of the essay is that there aren’t any explanations of who people are or if Emerson had any relevant sources included in the essay. A reader could start reading the essay and not have ...
... to convey. An example of this would be “Meditation” by John Donne and “Arriving at moral Perfection” by Benjamin Franklin On one side Benjamin Franklin is more persistent, stubborn, self motivated, independent, and an individual. John Donne was more caring, respective, giving, and trusting. Each of them has different views which give us the chance to compare and contrast each author’s point of view. This is just one of the many examples that we have covered in this class. This type of exercise is great to use our mind and to express how we feel. We also have writing assignments related to the readings, where we make up a question or pick from four or more questions. Each question is desi ...
... It is not just about war and the fighting, the book gives details about the camp and the other soldiers that Henry Flemmings interacts with. Stephen Crane has a unique writing style because it is very symbolic and it paints a lot of pictures for you. Crane is very imaginative and takes a look from one viewpoint into an isolated person and his relationship with society. I believe the book was well writing at times because some parts could have used more detail. It would have been easier to understand. Some parts of the book I felt like I was really there but others it just felt so distance. This work is important because of its historical value that it has with the Civil War. It tel ...
... his time studying the Talmud. Eventually he comes across Moshe the Beadle, who would take him under his wing and instruct him more in depth of the ways of the Talmud and cabbala. Through Moshe’s instruction, he is taught to question God for answers. Later Moshe is sent away to a camp and upon his return to Sighet presents the reader with a foreshadowing of what will soon come in the book. Elie recalls, “Moshe had changed….He no longer talked to me of God or the cabbala, but only of what he had seen.”(4) Thus right away the reader is exposed a loss of religious faith in Moshe, the same loss that will soon plague Elie. When Elie arrives at Birkenau, the reader sees the first evidence of ...
... this situation and began to get involved. Going down the street to check on the action in Tienamin Square. Alex was injured. However, a group of Chinese University students rescued him. They fixed his wound and tended to his needs. Imagine seeing new found friends, innocent people, even bystanders, slaughtered in the blink of an eye. Incredible horrors are brought to your attention and you question how a country could do this to its own people. The author brings out very good realism with every sentence as if you could just be there, feeling the emotions and seeing the events. The author also has an interesting writing form in that this story was written as a diary or log in association w ...

... By using these methods, stress is put onto the point that is being made by France and therefore is more explicit to the audience. France also uses loaded verbs to describe Lear¡¦s actions, including ¡§cast¡¨ and ¡§thrown¡¨, to suggest that Lear is being harsh and barbaric towards Cordelia, as these verbs sound aggressive. By saying this, he means that when there are other things being considered at the same time as love, the love cannot be true, as love should never be conditional. This is bei ...
... way which an individual understands their present life in relation to the traditions of their people and culture. Dee tells her mother and Maggie that they do not understand their "heritage," because they plan to put "priceless" heirloom quilts to "" (Walker 78). The story makes clear that Dee is equally confused about the nature of her inheritance both from her immediate family and from the larger black tradition. The matter of Dee's name provides a good example of this confusion. Evidently, Dee has chosen her new name ("Wangero Leewanika Kemanjo") to express solidarity with her African ancestors and to reject the oppression implied by the taking on of American names by black slaves.
