... to a community college and try to redeem myself. I wanted to do neither, but I had to choose. The military was off my list and going to a community college sounded o.k. So I registered and the rest of that summer I had to deal with the fact that I had not accomplished anything in the past year and this was wake up call and the only chance I had left to prove to myself that I could do something. The fall semester rolled around and I realized that I wanted to do the work for myself not for anyone else. This proved to be beneficial, for I received a 3.67 grade point average for that semester. That spring was just as good, that year my grade point average was a 3.46. I was happy, and so ...
... of that resembles it is a thin person’s belly button. The way the outside of the orange feels is also interesting. When I first pick up the orange it is cool to the touch. The slightest squeeze will dent the surface, only to just spring right back into shape. I can feel those dime shaped dents easier than I can see them. The surface is also very slick. My curiosity gets the best of me and now it is time to cut the orange sphere into two halves. As I slice the orange I smell the fresh scent of citrus. As I expected the inside was also orange. The outer edge of the orange starts out colored like the skin but it fades into a creamier shade of orange. Now is where it really gets str ...
... not even to keep the often fragile peace at these reunions. I was just as guilty as the others. At least our dinner table talk was never boring! It certainly would not be tonight. Because I was determined that this would be the night that I would tell my grandfather that I wanted to be a professional dancer. A rude gull squawked near my ear, rousing me from my reverie and I turned and walked purposefully back to the house, determined to find the courage and the words to make him understand. As I opened the door I encountered a wall of sound, light and aroma. The dining room glittered with crystal, silver and candlelight. Music and shrieks of laughter announced the presence of the ent ...
... a REAL fish not the guppy in my bucket. As he talked and talked the fish got closer and closer and he netted it up and took a look. The fish was about half the size of mine but it was a carp not a catfish. I gave a little laugh and continued and he tried to explain...."well you see boy, a carp is a hell of alot harder to hook than a catfish. Carp don't just eat everything they see, they're very selective. So if I were you I wouldn't laugh to hard just yet". I wasn't to sure if the information was legit but i really doubted it so I just went on with my fishing. It was getting close to weigh-on time so i had to get a better fish. Then the out of all the things that could happen, the ...
... end up sharing my so-called perfect life with. I could see his face, remember his smile, hear him laugh. Jim and I were great friends for a long while. Almost a whole year, until I began to actually feel something stronger. I had never been in love before and it had been an overwhelming feeling. At a party, I had too much to drink and on the way home blurted out how I had felt. He smiled and drove me home. The next day he came by my house and sat me down and told me he had felt the same way. It began. Two wonderful years, of now loving my best friend. It wasn't always wonderful, we had our bad moments, but I was the happiest I could ever remember. Jim was still in the Army, it w ...
... would stop us and make an example of whoever messed up. He would say, "Did everyone see what Bryan just did? That is what you should not do." He would then gripe a little and after that we would continue our practice. I feel that this method of coaching during practice made my teammates and I closer as a team during the game, but we always dreaded practice. I prefer the nice-guy coaching method during practice. This makes practice more fun. The coach is serious about making our team better, but he realizes that people are not perfect. During calisthenics he would talk to us about our day at school and tell us dirty jokes, and just try to be our friend. While we were practicing he p ...
... who looked as if she might be at death's door her self had made the effort to attend the funeral. He noted that the enigmatic women in black disappeared after the burial. When Mr. Kipps inquired of Mr. Jerome as to her identity, the latter was deeply shocked. "I did not see a young woman," said Jerome. She reappeared moments after Jerome had told Kipps that he had seen no-one, but again was visible only to Mr. Kipps. Mr. Jerome appeared to be in a state of some agitation, doubtless perturbed to think that the Drablow Ghost might be once more manifesting itself. ...
... controls me, it has to. I have to be up at a certain time, so I wont be late to school. During the school day I have to be in class on time. After school I have no time! I have work and extracurricular activities that I am involved in. After this I eat dinner, study then go to bed. My time is mainly consumed by Sleep, school, and work. Ou of the 168 hours in a week I sleep for 52.5 and am in school for 32. Work usually takes up about 23 hours a week. All my after school activities take up 6 - 12 hours a week depending if it is a busy week for the clubs I am in. This leaves me between 6 - 18 hours to study, and for free time. All the other time is take up by the little things ...
... say, “We will get you a train ticket for the earliest train out of Central Station.” I stormed out, knowing that I was defenseless against them I went straight into my room and packed, thinking of ways to get back at them. I thought then I realized that I shouldn't even bother wasting my time, I knew that it would be a small time before I would be kicked out anyhow. Bags outside the door at 5:00 A.M. So your father can put them on the car. A couple days went by, as boring as any other days. I mostly sat around on my bed thinking about those phony people I will be stuck with. Hopefully I can be stuck with a roommate who resembles good ol' Jane Gallagher. But not those dumb preps like at Pe ...
... license, now useless since he was lacking a vehicle. He carried a set of keys, with a car alarm remote. What company was he covered by? He would have to call them later. He had nothing to alleviate his current difficulty. He had some money, but not enough for a cab ride back to San Diego at 5am. He was sure that cabbies didn't take pez as currency. He felt ill-equip, and mortified that his car alarm hadn't stopped the theft. He carried the guilt of sneaking away to attend Technostate. He was living at home, and had told his parents he was going to spend the night at a friend's house. He would have to face them. He would have to face the insurance agency. He would have to face his ...
