... exaggerate to make the story more interesting. Sometimes the story sounds so over exaggerated and so far fetched that people don't believe it. The author Tim O'Brien says that, "Often the crazy stuff is true and the normal stuff isn't because the normal stuff is necessary to make you believe the truly incredible craziness" (461). After I did this a couple times, I was disgusted with myself and quit. I wanted to keep my memories of war to myself.
