Clarisse then says that it is possible that back before they were born, firemen used to put out fires. Montag thinks about what she says that day. He then begins reading books while his wife is sleeping. Then, everything develops from there.
In conclusion, this is basically a story of a person who thinks that something is wrong but after that person actually tries it, it doesn't seem so bad. That person is Guy Montag. And what he thought was bad was reading yet he ended up liking it.
