The regular use of certain drugs causes dependence and the use of the drug becomes a habit that is hard to break. Drug dependence is both psychological and physical. Psychological dependence involves a craving for the psychological experience a drug provides. Physical dependence means that the user builds a tolerance to the drug. When this happens the user needs more and more of the drug to achieve the same effect.
