There were a few things I found that made the piece of American literature that it is. One of them was the use of superstition used in the book. Another was the amount of racism and intolerance. I am curious why this is bad luck, and why turning three times and tying a lock of hair with thread was thought to prevent the bad luck. I also wondered how a hair ball became a way to read fortunes. I thought it was interesting when they decided the snake skin represented good luck and bad luck.
