"By assuming that what we did to blacks was immoral, we were willing to assuage our guilt via affirmative action programs and welfare. While the spirit behind affirmative action is in the right place, it cannot be denied that the manner with which it is implemented is ineffective and raises the hostilities between minority and non minority groups to an even higher rate. First implemented to protect the rights and opportunities of women and minorities, it has cascaded into policies that favoritize but do not necessarily achieve the fundamental goals behind affirmative action.
