The central figure of the film is a southern evangelical preacher, the self proclaimed "Apostle". In the beginning, this man is the picture of a stereotypical "Bible-belt" minister. He is loud, flamboyant, hypocritical, and uses his influence to become a pillar of the community. However, slowly loses everything he holds dear. He loses his wife to another man and loses his job at "his church". He then commits a heinous act which puts his wife's lover in the hospital and eventually kills him.
