The dust storms were often times massive and destroyed crops, houses and the lives of anyone living near it. By mid March, the storms had become commonplace in Amarillo and Dodge City. Residents began to accept them as a part of daily life. On April 10, 1935, a dust storm rolled through Texas and Oklahoma and on to Kansas.
